Weston Sailing Club presents a beginner route: the Sailing page says people new to sailing should arrange a visit, and the New To Sailing page says getting on the water for the first time is easy at Weston and points beginners to the Training section. This should be shown with caveats: sail training is arranged where there is sufficient demand from members, and the club is not authorised to award RYA sailing certificates.
Training
Sail training courses are arranged if there is sufficient demand from members, primarily to improve members' skills and knowledge. Participants must be at least 8 years old. Training usually uses WSC Fevas, Picos, Toppers, Lasers and Visions, and participants may use insured own boats. WSC states it is not authorised to award RYA sailing certificates. Powerboat training is also described as WSC-specific and generally run in March or April for members undertaking patrol boat duties.
Weston Sailing Club is a Southampton Water dinghy club at Netley Abbey with club racing, beginner signposting, club boat hire, youth sailing, family involvement, slipways, and changing facilities.
No dedicated current taster-session or open-day page was found on the official pages checked. The practical low-commitment route found is to contact the club and arrange a visit. The FAQ also says non-members can sail on a daily basis for GBP 10 per person per day, without leaving a boat at the club, and the home page listed supported social sailing for members and day visitors. Treat this as a possible try-it route, not confirmed as a structured beginner taster session.
The Sailing page has a Youth sailing section and says the varied sailing programme can encourage and progress future sailors. It also says Family and Single memberships can be extended to cover children at no additional cost. The 2026 fees page lists Family, Cadet and younger member categories, with Cadet for minors between 8 and 18 on 1 January 2026 and requiring a parent or guardian Associate member. Training participants must be at least 8 years old.

No official page reviewed confirmed Sailability, adaptive sailing, step-free access, accessible changing, or specific access-needs support. The safeguarding page says the club is committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and recognises protection from discrimination and abuse irrespective of disability, but this is not evidence of accessible sailing provision.

2026 membership fees found: Student GBP 50, Young Adult GBP 100, Single adult over 30 GBP 140, Family GBP 220, Cadet GBP 50, Paddle Sports or Wind/Wing surfer GBP 90, Associate GBP 50, Winter Single GBP 105 and Winter Double GBP 165. Pound and trailer fees are priced per square metre; member key is GBP 15. The FAQ says there is no joining fee, daily sailing without full membership is GBP 10 per person per day, and temporary monthly membership is available for up to 3 months but the monthly price was not found. Club craft hire has free Club Spec boats for members and premium boats at GBP 10 per session, plus STX paddle board at GBP 5 per hour. Course and taster prices were not found on official pages checked.
Official FAQ says there is no joining fee or waiting list, and day sailing or temporary membership may be possible for people not ready for full membership.
Club craft hire is available for club members and their guests during scheduled club sailing/events when a Patrol Boat is on the water, not during Free Sailing. Club Spec Topper, Pico, Feva and Club Laser are listed as free per session for members.
