Beginner
The club presents itself as welcoming to curious novices and says recreational sailing sessions welcome all skill levels. Beginners can also crew on club dinghy activities without RYA Level 2, although helming requires RYA Dinghy Level 2.
Training
RYA Dinghy Level 1 or 2 training is described as available in house when there are enough interested people, and through a University of Southampton partnership. The official page lists 2025 course examples and says to contact training@southamptonsailingclub.com or book University courses directly.
Taster
A 2026 open day is listed for Saturday 20 June, 12:00-16:00, with no experience needed, everyone welcome, taster sails, clubhouse tours, RIB rides, BBQ, and bar. Booking is recommended by emailing commodore@southamptonsailingclub.com or texting the listed contact number on the event page.

Access· Unclear
I did not find official information about disabled access, step-free access, adapted sailing, accessible toilets, or other access-needs support on the official pages checked.

Boat hire
The club says members have access to a fleet of dinghies including RS Quest, Wayfarers, and GP14s for recreational sailing or day events, and mentions a Foxcub cruiser for a first taste of cruiser sailing. I did not find separate public hire pricing or a detailed booking policy on the checked official pages.
