Tideway Sailability

Tideway says beginners can quickly pick up the basics in stable, accessible dinghies on the sheltered dock, initially accompanied by an experienced volunteer. It welcomes new members and volunteers all year round and says aspiring sailors can start from age 6 with no upper age limit.

The club describes learning-by-doing support, its own Learn to Sail guide, volunteer coaching, regular sessions on the RYA syllabus, RYA Sailability certificates, and tailored Learn to Sail courses for specific groups on request. It also states it is not able to offer public sailing courses and points suitable candidates or intensive-course seekers to Surrey Docks Watersports Centre for assessment or courses.

The site has first-visit guidance asking prospective visitors to email before visiting, discuss any specific needs, register essential information before going on the water, and then have a first sail of about an hour. The membership page says the first visit is free.

The juniors page covers ages 6-17, says most children can pick up the basics in an hour or so, and says children can sail with a parent, another child, siblings, or as a whole-family activity. Junior sailing is listed for Sunday mornings 10:30 to 12:30, with Wednesday holiday sailing also mentioned.

Tideway presents itself as a club where disabled and non-disabled sailors sail together. It describes specialist accessible dinghies, electric servo assist with joystick, chin control or sip-and-puff options, hoists for transfers, accessible washing and changing facilities at the adjacent watersports centre, and RYA-accredited Sailability facilities. It notes it cannot provide personal care and asks people who need personal care to bring a carer or assistant.

The site describes club boats used for members, groups, assisted sailing, juniors, recreational sailing, racing, and trips, but I did not find an official current page saying boats are available for standalone public hire.
