Beginner
Greenwich Yacht Club is suitable for beginners. The official Learn to Sail page says the club can help people go from complete beginner to racing club dinghies, crewing on a member cruiser, or sailing their own boat, and suggests Dinghy RYA Level 1 for people who have never sailed before. The dinghy fleet page says new members who have never sailed before are welcome, that informal cruises are a way to try sailing for the first time, and that offering to crew with an experienced club helm is a way to get on the water. The Join GYC page says applicants do not need to own a boat.
Training
The club is an RYA-accredited training centre. Its official Learn to Sail page lists Dinghy RYA Level 1 and 2, Powerboat Level 1, Level 2 and Safety Boat, keelboat, trot boat and race officer courses, plus partner-delivered RYA Day Skipper Theory, VHF SRC Radio and First Aid courses. The club history page also says the club is an official RYA Training Centre offering shore-based and practical courses. The current RYA listing for Thames Active at Greenwich Yacht Club confirms beginner Powerboat Level 1 and Level 2 courses at the same address.
Taster
Current official fees from 1 September 2025 say the club provides taster sessions at very low cost and list a Dinghy Taster fee of £10 per person per event. The Social Events page describes Push the Boat Out as free or low-cost try-sailing open days including Greenwich Yacht Club, but no current dated Push the Boat Out/open-day session was found during this check, so that page is not treated as evidence of a scheduled current open day.

Juniors
The current fees page lists Family - Full membership at £345 per year, Family - Senior membership at £226 per year, Youth membership for people aged under 25 at £110 per year, and a Youth Joining Fee of £55. The Social Events page says the winter solstice boat race gets younger members involved. No dedicated junior sailing programme page was found on the official site.
Access
Venue/building accessibility is supported, but adaptive sailing support is not currently evidenced. The 2026 Greenwich Yacht Club venue hire brochure says both venues comply with government regulations and are suitable for wheelchairs. The Open House listing for Greenwich Yacht Club lists toilets, an accessible toilet, baby changing facilities, handrails on both sides of stairs, seating and limited street parking. No official evidence was found for adapted boats, hoists, disabled parking, sailability-style support, or other on-water accessibility provision.

Current official fees from 1 September 2025 list a £89 joining fee, £55 youth joining fee, annual membership of £286 Single - Full, £345 Family - Full, £166 Single - Senior, £226 Family - Senior, £110 Youth membership aged under 25, £105 Single Overseas and £158 Family Overseas. Participation fees are £5 per person per event for Dinghy, Rowing or Keelboat, £10 for a Dinghy Taster and £15 for Rowing Non-members. The same page says a 50% discount on membership and joining fees is available for people receiving Universal Credit or similar qualifying benefits. It also lists mooring, visiting vessel, towage, visitor slip launch, locker and equipment charges.

Official site and club documents describe a CASC yacht club at Peartree Wharf with membership, dinghy/cruiser activity and RYA training.

Boat hire· Unclear
The official pages show member access to club dinghies, rowing boats and crew opportunities, and the current fees page lists £5 participation fees for dinghy, rowing and keelboat activity plus a £10 Dinghy Taster fee. However, no current standalone public boat hire offer or hire-only price list was found. The evidence supports supervised/club activity rather than public boat hire.
