Beginner
Erith Yacht Club presents itself as an affordable sailing venue for all ages and abilities and says beginners can learn to sail without previous experience through RYA beginner courses. Its RYA Start Sailing Level 1 page describes a weekend course for people starting sailing, using stable Laser Stratos keel boats with instructors alongside, and says the aim is to get participants confidently sailing under supervision in light winds.
Training
The club says it offers sailing and powerboat courses for members and non-members, with priority and discounts for members/prospective members where spaces are limited. Courses are run under RYA affiliation by qualified volunteer RYA instructors. Beginner courses listed include RYA Start Sailing Level 1 and RYA Basic Skills Level 2; Level 2 is described as a two-day course to build skills to helm a dinghy in good conditions. The Powerboat Level 2 page lists future 2026 course dates from June through October and a price of GBP 300.
Taster
The current site gives a practical try-sailing route through prospective membership: prospective members can visit, use facilities, take part in club events, meet and sail with club members, and organise sailing opportunities through a prospective members WhatsApp group. The Open Day page says the club opens each May for people interested in trying sailing and describes try-sailing sessions, but the visible 2026 registration wording is stale as of 2026-06-12, so no current future open-day date is confirmed from the checked pages.

Suitability

Juniors, families, and accessibility

Juniors
The club has Junior & Youth Sailing and says it works with Danson Park Adventures so children and young people can complete Stage 1 and 2 sailing qualifications before heading onto the Thames at Erith. A parent, guardian, or approved adult must be at the club during JYS sessions. JYS sessions cost GBP 15, including GBP 10 boat hire and GBP 5 for the session. Youth membership is free up to age 25, and parents/guardians can join as Family Members.
Access
The clubhouse page says the clubhouse is fully accessible, with allocated mobility parking immediately outside, lifts to all floors, accessible toilets on each floor, wide clear access ways, and accessible changing facilities on the main lower floor. This is strong clubhouse access evidence, but the checked pages do not confirm the current operating details of any wider Sailability programme or adaptive on-water support.
