Carsington welcomes people who want to learn to sail and says its courses are for total beginners through experienced sailors. It describes taking up a new sport at the club as easy and says the RYA Recognised Training Centre trains sailors from 8-year-old beginners through to adult instructors.
Training
Carsington is an RYA Recognised Training Centre offering sailing, windsurfing, wingsurfing, powerboat, shore-based and instructor courses, plus bespoke/private tuition. Adult Levels 1-3 and Youth Stages 1-4 are explicitly listed.
The training overview says sailing tasters run on the last Saturday of most months and cost GBP40 for two hours with an instructor in a group of three maximum. The training price page also lists Sailing or Windsurfing Tasters at GBP40 non-member and GBP30 member.
The club offers youth beginner and improver courses, junior membership, organised youth sailing activities, Saturday OnBoard Club, Derbyshire Youth Sailing and family-friendly membership. Youth sailors from age 8 are included in the training programme.
