Beginner
The club says it welcomes people of all ages and abilities and runs RYA adult and junior sailing courses including Level 1. A complete beginner should contact the club secretary because the official pages do not publish a separate beginner booking flow.
Training
The club states it is an RYA Training Centre and runs certificated Powerboat and RYA Youth and Adult sailing courses. Sailing courses listed include adult Level 1, Level 2, Seamanship, Day Sailing, and junior Levels 1 to 4. Powerboat courses listed include Powerboat 1, Powerboat 2, and Safety Boat.
Taster· Unclear
No current official sailing taster session, trial sail, open day, or public try-sailing booking page was found. The club mentions member fun days and social events, but that does not clearly prove public tasters are available.

Suitability

Juniors, families, and accessibility

Juniors
Junior and family participation is supported. The club lists junior RYA sailing courses, family membership covers 2 adults and all cadets under 18, cadet membership is listed in the membership form, and the parental consent form states cadet participants must be aged 7 to 17 inclusive.
Access· Unclear
The constitution says membership is open regardless of disability and the welfare policy includes protections for vulnerable adults, but no specific accessible sailing programme, Sailability provision, adaptive equipment, step-free access, or practical access-needs support was found.

Prices

Membership prices were found for 2026: family membership GBP 80 for 2 adults and all cadets under 18; full membership GBP 60 per person. The membership application form also lists cadet membership GBP 20 per person under 18, student membership GBP 35 per person in full-time education and over 18, and a diver's discount of GBP 25 off adult or family membership. Course prices, taster prices, temporary membership fees, weekly club boat-use fees, and separate boat-hire prices were not found on the reviewed official pages.

Membership

Official Facebook page and regional Solway sailing directory confirm the club at Isle of Whithorn; detailed programme information was limited during this pass.

Boat hire
The club does not publish a simple public boat-hire offer or price. Current membership information says membership includes use of club facilities and, once trained, use of sail boats, kayaks, and paddle boards. Club rules say members may use club equipment if suitably trained and must sign equipment in and out. The constitution also refers to temporary visitors being able to use club boats for an additional weekly fee, but that older document does not provide the current fee.
