Training
Solway Yacht Club says it is a recognised RYA Training Centre. Its main sailing training event is annual Cadet Week, with cadets from age 10 able to work towards RYA dinghy Stages 1, 2 and 3 before progressing to coaching and racing. The club also says it can offer RYA Powerboat Level 1, Level 2 and Safety Boat courses, and can bring in external instructors for VHF Radio and RYA First Aid. Solway Yacht Club is a Kippford yacht club on the Urr Estuary and Solway Firth, with keelboat and dinghy sailing, cruising, cadets, training and regatta activity.
The 2026 programme lists an Open Day on 17 May 2026. The club describes SYC Open Day as a welcoming introduction for visitors of all ages to get on the water, meet members, and experience the club, including people who are completely new to sailing. No separate recurring taster-session programme was found.
The club has a strong cadet section. Official pages describe annual Cadet Week, RYA courses for beginners, cadets from age 10, cadet groups from absolute beginners through racers, family involvement during Cadet Week, and a social programme. Access
The club has recently completed basic disabled facilities and says a disabled access ramp leads from the main clubhouse entrance to the new facility. Earlier official news described work to create a fully accessible changing, showering and toilet facility within the main clubhouse, with further accessibility improvements anticipated. The club has hosted Sailability Scotland Challenger events and plans to host the 2027 Sailability Scotland Championships. Some prices were found, but the current full pricing picture is incomplete. The official site states drying-out pontoon berths are GBP 20 per night. Club boats may be loaned to competent SYC members for a donation to club funds, with suggested donations starting at GBP 5. The current WebCollect subscription page was blocked by a cookie interstitial in this environment, but search results for that official WebCollect page showed current subscription examples including Joining Fee GBP 35, Family after Feb 14 GBP 235, Youth after Feb 14 GBP 52, and Senior after Feb 14 GBP 73. The official club site also has a 2025 membership table, but that is not treated as current 2026 pricing here.
