Training
Training is clearly available. WYC states it is an RYA Recognised Training Centre offering a wide range of courses. Adult RYA Level 1, 2 and 3 sailing courses, youth RYA courses for ages 8 to 16, advanced courses, powerboat training, one-to-one lessons, cadet sessions, improver sessions, and transition-to-racing sessions are listed through the training and booking pages.
No dedicated official page or clear current offer for sailing taster sessions, trial sails, or open-day sailing sessions was found. The membership page mentions special Open Day prices until 30 June 2026, but the reviewed official pages did not provide a specific taster/open-day sailing activity for beginners.
Junior and family suitability is strongly supported. WYC says its Cadet and Families programme introduces children aged 8 and above to sailing and the water. Published prices found include a new-member joining fee of GBP 25; water-user family membership GBP 171.60 and individual GBP 126 as special Open Day prices until 30 June 2026; young person water-user membership GBP 34.40; social family GBP 84 and social individual GBP 57.60. Adult RYA sailing Levels 1, 2 or 3 are listed at GBP 180 for members and GBP 240 for non-members. Youth RYA courses are listed at GBP 180 for members and GBP 240 for non-members. Cadet sessions are listed at GBP 110 per cadet per season, GBP 90 for siblings, with 50% off from July to October. Members-only dinghy hire is GBP 25 for 3 hours for Topaz, Pico, Topper or Windsurfer and GBP 35 for 3 hours for Laser, Feva, Argo or Wanderer. Youth cadet boat hire is GBP 8 per week and clothing borrowing GBP 1 per item per session. Boat parking and locker prices are also published on the membership page.
Boat hire is available, but with restrictions. The Dinghy Hire page says dinghy hire is for members only, subject to availability, requires at least an RYA Adult Level 2 certificate, and must be booked 7 days in advance.
