Seasalter Sailing Club is a north Kent coastal-estuary club west of Whitstable, sailing dinghies and catamarans on Whitstable Bay and the Swale.

Can a beginner start here?

Dinghy sailing, Catamaran sailing, Club racing, Open meetings, Social sailing

Beginner
The club describes routes for new members to start sailing, including advice, crewing, club boat hire after reaching basic boat-handling skills, RYA course help, and coaching. It also says complete beginners may benefit from an RYA Level 2 dinghy course at Dover Watersports Centre or another centre before joining.
Training
Seasalter offers informal coaching, buddying and crewing opportunities, and says it can help members book onto an RYA National Sailing Scheme course. It states the club has no full-time employees or instructors, so formal RYA training appears to be arranged via RYA centres rather than delivered as a staffed in-house course.
Taster· Unclear
No current official taster-session or open-day programme was found. The official membership page invites prospective members to arrange a visit before applying, and the homepage advertises a 2026 Dip your Toe Introduction to Sailing membership offer, but this is not the same as a current one-off taster session or open day.
