Beginner
Lee on the Solent Sailing Club says it welcomes all sailing abilities and offers Open Days where beginners can take a short sail with an experienced sailor in a club boat. Its Start Sailing page says its programme is for novice and experienced sailors, with RYA Level 1 and 2 suitable for absolute beginners aged 16+.
Training
Training is available. The club says it is an RYA Recognised Training Centre and works with McKenna's Seabreeze Water Skills as its official RYA training provider. Current training information lists RYA dinghy courses including Level 1 Start Sailing, Level 2 Basic Skills, Level 3, Seamanship Skills, Sailing with Spinnakers, Day Sailing and Start Racing, plus youth stages, powerboating and specialist courses. Adult RYA Level 1 and 2 courses are described as member courses for ages 16+ and course dates are directed to the training calendar or online booking.
Taster
Open Days are available as the low-commitment way to try sailing. The official Open Days page says non-members and people totally new to sailing can attend free sessions, go for a sail weather permitting, and do not need to book; it points users to the calendar for the next date. The current events calendar lists Summer in Lee & Club Open Day from Friday 21 August to Sunday 23 August 2026.

Suitability

Juniors, families, and accessibility

Juniors
The club describes itself as family-friendly and says every adult membership is a family membership covering dependent children under 18. Youth and junior information says the club has training, social sailing and racing opportunities for all ages, with dinghy training from novice to RYA Stage 4, adult beginner courses open from age 16, and Cadets for ages 10 to 15. Cadets are open to any ability, use RYA-trained coaches and run Saturday morning on-water sessions between April and July and during September.
Access
The membership and venue pages state that the club has changing rooms with toilets, showers and disabled access, and that the clubhouse/function room is accessible with roadside parking and a lift. I did not find current official evidence for Sailability or adaptive sailing provision.

Costs

Costs, membership, and boats

The official membership pages publish 2026 sailing membership fees. Sailing Single is GBP 187.00, Sailing Couple GBP 280.00, Sailing/Social Couple GBP 245.00, Cruiser Single GBP 117.00, Cruiser Couple GBP 175.00, Sailing Young Adult GBP 83.00, Cadet GBP 38.00, Cadet Training Parent GBP 99.00 and Adult Sail Training GBP 99.00. The Adult Sail Training option is only available in the first membership year. The Cadets page lists the full Cadet sailing programme cost as GBP 100 per person. The club also says annual membership runs from 1 March, there is no joining fee for sailing members, and renewals are due by 1 March.

Membership

Official training page says beginners can attend open days for a short sail, and the club runs a junior cadet club and training.

Boat hire
Club boats are available for members' use, and social sailing notes say a limited number of club boats are available during those sessions and can be hired for a small charge by booking through the website. The club also says club boats and kayaks are available at family fun days and that Cadet training has limited club boats including Toppers, Fevas and Zests. I did not find a current public non-member boat-hire offer or exact hire prices.
