Beginner
HISC has several current beginner routes. The official site says its Learn to Sail offer covers complete beginners, its adult Sailing Taster needs no prior experience and uses an instructor in an RS Venture, RYA Start Sailing Level 1 is for novices, and Beginners Midweek Sailing is designed to help adults start their sailing journey.
Training
HISC offers adult and youth member training, including RYA and club courses. Current official pages list adult and youth dinghy training, RYA Levels 1, 2 and 3, youth stages, powerboat courses, one-to-one lessons, instructor courses, shore-based courses, and 2026 prices. Course booking is through the office, email training, or EliteLive, with paid booking required before a course starts.
Taster
Current official taster evidence found. HISC lists Sailing Taster sessions for 2026, with future dates after 12 June 2026 including 24 June, 8 July, 22 July, 5 August, 12 August, and 19 August. The taster page says no prior experience is needed and that the session runs 5pm-7pm. The 2026 price list gives Sailing Taster prices of GBP 37 for members and GBP 45 for non-members. The Open Day 2026 page exists but the listed date, 4 May 2026, has already passed and is not treated as current availability.

Suitability

Juniors, families, and accessibility

Juniors
HISC describes itself as a family-focused club and says its youth programme supports children from first taster sessions through structured training. Current official youth and family pages list Seals for children new to sailing, Family Sailaways, Family Fun Week, Thursday Club for local children, youth pathway activity, Red Ribbon Training, Youth Training Week, Summer Training Camp, and youth dinghy training. Seals is free and open to members, with 2026 dates including 13 June, 1 August, and 12 September after today's check date.
Access· Unclear
Current official evidence confirms some access-related facilities, including disabled facilities on the championship venue page and an Admiral accommodation room with a wet-room en-suite and accessible facilities. No current official evidence was found for adaptive sailing, Sailability, step-free access details across the site, or specific support for disabled sailors, so broader accessibility support is unknown.
