The current official site says Harlow (Blackwater) Sailing Club offers dinghy and cruiser sailing, windsurfing, kayaks and stand-up paddleboarding for all levels from novices to experts. Its dinghy page describes an ideal sheltered bay for learning to sail, experienced members willing to help with training for people new to sailing or racing, and club boats for members so beginners do not need to buy a boat. The 2026 publicity leaflet also says the Maylandsea sheltered bay is ideal for learning to sail, windsurf or paddle in a safe tidal-water environment.
Training
The current dinghy page says experienced members are willing to assist with training if someone is new to sailing or racing. The windsurfing page says members are willing to assist with training and advice for new windsurfers and that the club has regular teaching sessions. The 2026 programme lists Safety Boat Training on 21 March 2026, a Sail Training Day on 16 May 2026, and states that 2026 Have a Go days include training, taster sessions and cruiser mini flotilla training.

Future dates still current at this check include 13 June 2026 and 18 July 2026; the 30 May 2026 open day was already past on 12 June 2026 and is not treated as current availability.

The Why HBSC page says the club is ideal for families with activities for all ages and sailing abilities, and the 2026 membership form lists youth membership for over-7s and under-18s plus family membership for one or two adults at the same address and children under 18.

It also lists per-craft storage or boat fees: dinghy, rowing boat or craft with trolley at GBP 75, youth-sailed dinghy at GBP 30, cruiser/day boat with craft, trolley/trailer and one tender including mooring and cruiser-park storage at GBP 475, mooring only with one tender at GBP 370, windsurfer/kayak/canoe/paddleboard storage at GBP 40, dinghy road trailer at GBP 35, and a one-off gate and lobby key fee of GBP 15. The day-sailing ticket PDF lists visitor day sailing at GBP 10 per day per boat, but that form is dated May 2016, so it is treated as a current site-published document with age noted rather than strong current price evidence.
