Cardiff Yacht Club welcomes new members, and its Pirates Thursday evening activity says experienced sailors and people completely new to the water are welcome, including non-members who want to give sailing a try. Cardiff Yacht Club is an RYA recognised training establishment for tuition in sailing dinghies and powerboats, with fully qualified volunteer instructors. Shore-based third-party training is also offered from First Aid through to Day Skipper and Ocean Yachtmaster Theory; courses are available for members and non-members.

Dinghy/compound fees include sailing dinghy monohull max 16ft GBP84, small sailing keelboat GBP117, sailing catamaran GBP168, independent slipway fee GBP50, lift in/out GBP45 each way and hull pressure wash GBP36.
