The club says the Marine Lake is suitable for people who are just learning and that no previous sailing experience or boat ownership is required. Adult beginner courses are offered to members over 17, normally on Monday evenings, taking participants up to RYA Level 2 with club boats, buoyancy aids/safety equipment if needed, qualified RYA instructors, and safety boat cover.
Training
WKSC states it is an RYA Recognised Training Centre offering adult and junior courses. Current listed courses include RYA Dinghy Levels 1 to 3, Sailing with Spinnakers, Start Racing, RYA Youth Sailing Scheme Stages 1 to 4, RYA Powerboat Level 2, and RYA Safety Boat. Training is delivered by qualified RYA instructors on the Marine Lake and Dee Estuary with safety boats in attendance.
I found no clear current official page advertising general adult taster sessions or open days. The junior training page says Kids Club Tiddlers for ages 5 to 8 is open to members and non-members on a trial basis, but this is specific to that junior programme rather than a general taster-session offer.
The club describes itself as family friendly and says it welcomes new junior members. Junior training includes an RYA OnBoard hub for young people age 8 and above, Kids Club Tiddlers for ages 5 to 8, Junior Beginners, Junior Improvers, and Family Fun Fridays for members of any age. The joining page lists family and junior membership categories and says juniors must be at least 5 years old to join.

The current joining page lists 2025/26 membership subscriptions: Family GBP 516, Couple GBP 419, Adult over 30 GBP 322, age 26-30 GBP 161, age 18-25 GBP 97, Junior age 5-17 GBP 97, Outport Individual including Juniors GBP 97, Outport Couple GBP 194, and Outport Family GBP 291. It also states there is a GBP 30 entry fee for each new member, waived if paying by direct debit with GoCardless. I did not find public course prices on the reviewed visible pages.
The FAQ says club boat hire is available only to club members who are logged in, via Book Online. The junior Family Fun Fridays description also mentions club boats as an option for members attending those sessions.
