UYC describes itself as family-friendly and welcoming to families, with junior fleets, junior training, a junior racing series, Youth Stage courses, and an annual Sail Camp for children aged 8 to 14. Children under 16 must be supervised by a responsible adult and should wear a suitable life jacket or buoyancy aid near the water.
Access
The current About page states that the club has toilets with disabled access. I did not find wider current visible detail about step-free access, accessible changing, adapted sailing, or access needs support.

Prices

Current visible prices include 2026 annual membership fees: Family Member GBP 460, Single Member GBP 320, Young Adult Member GBP 89, Junior Member GBP 57, Outport Member GBP 140, and Crewing Member GBP 105. The 2026 visitor page lists adult visitor fees at GBP 32 per adult per day, camping at GBP 20 per tent per night and GBP 25 per campervan per night, and launch/recovery at GBP 60 each. Sailing School taster booking lists deposits from GBP 18.75, half-day GBP 75, full-day GBP 150. Youth Stage 1 booking lists 2-day courses at GBP 260 per person. Boat hire lists double handers at GBP 60 half day / GBP 90 full day and single-handed boats at GBP 30 half day / GBP 50 full day. UYC also says member boat hire starts at GBP 4.50 per day, but the public boat-hire page lists the higher standard hire prices.

Membership

Boat hire
Boat hire is available through Ullswater Sailing School. The page lists six Picos, one Feva, two Bahias, and three Laser Stratos, but says prior experience is required, hirers must have sailed with them before through a course or previous hire, and hire depends on experience, recency, weather, qualifications, safety cover, and wind below Force 4.
