The club explicitly caters for complete beginners through adult sailing courses and beginner youth sailing, and the training FAQs state no previous experience is required for beginner courses. The general FAQ also says RYA courses take juniors and adults from complete novice to managing a boat with confidence.
Training
Royal Windermere Yacht Club describes itself as an approved RYA Training Centre offering youth sailing stages 1-4, adult sailing following the RYA National Sailing Scheme, RYA Powerboat Level 2, RYA Safety Boat, RYA First Aid, advanced/race training and instructor courses.
The current official pages reviewed describe courses, youth clubs, Adult Squad, training enquiries and online course booking, but do not clearly advertise current taster sessions or open days.
The club offers beginner-to-advanced youth sailing, weekly youth sailing clubs, summer sailing weeks and school sailing programmes. The training FAQ gives a minimum participation age of 8, and the club FAQ says children are welcome in the clubhouse and describes a Youth Squad for ages 8 to 14. Family membership is also listed in the membership enquiry and pricing pages.

The training FAQ says there are no specific fitness requirements, asks participants to declare relevant medical conditions, injuries or disabilities, and asks anyone with a disability or additional needs to contact the club in advance so appropriate arrangements can be discussed. It states the aim is to make sailing accessible wherever reasonably possible.

The 2026-27 subscriptions and boat charges page publishes membership prices and boat storage/berthing charges. Membership examples include Family GBP 573.50, Single Ordinary GBP 382.10, Overseas GBP 127.60 and Young Adult 18-24 GBP 73.70; boat charges include Dinghy GBP 35.75 per m2 and Canoe GBP 113.30. Training-course prices were not found on the official pages reviewed, although training booking is linked through Sailia.
Official contact and training pages list membership enquiry routes, sailing fleets and youth/adult training; temporary membership is available for training weeks.
The training page states training is supported by a modern fleet of dinghies and high-performance Humber RIBs, and the FAQ says the club can provide buoyancy aids. However, the current official pages reviewed do not clearly state whether visitors or members can hire boats outside organised training or member crewing arrangements.
