Beginner
The club explicitly welcomes new members whether they are complete novices or experienced dinghy sailors. It is an RYA Recognised Training Centre, runs beginner-level dinghy and youth sailing courses, and offers Discover Sailing sessions by prior booking. Sailing-course students must be club members.
Training
SLSC says it provides training to RYA standards. Listed courses include Youth Sailing Scheme Stages 1-4, Dinghy Levels 1-3, Seamanship Skills, Sailing with Spinnakers, Powerboat Level 1, and Powerboat Level 2. The club lists junior and family membership categories. The events page describes a Juniors Tuesday Evening Club from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm, costing GBP 45 per person for six sessions, open to juniors who have joined the club, covering stages 1 to 4 with tuition in double and single-handed boats. The training page also lists Youth Sailing Scheme Stages 1-4.

Boat hire is shown as GBP 6 per person for a two-hour session after reaching a basic standard. The training page shows selected 2025/26 course costs, including Youth Stages 1-4 at GBP 45 per person for 6 sessions, Powerboat Level 2 at GBP 200 per person for members or GBP 250 per person for non-members, and some courses priced on request. Boat storage is shown as GBP 75 per quarter for one boat, with extra boat storage if available at GBP 37.50 per quarter.
