Starcross Yacht Club has specific guidance for people who have just joined, are fairly new to sailing, have recently completed RYA Level 1 or Level 2, or are new to the Exe Estuary. It points newer members toward organised sessions with safety cover and experienced members available to help.
Training
The club describes itself as an RYA-accredited training centre. Official pages say training is available for members throughout the year, including formal RYA courses and informal training. The RYA Start Sailing Dinghy Level 1 page is for complete beginners aged 16 and over.
A junior-focused taster route was found: the juniors page says the club may run a younger splash group for ages 6 to 8 as a taster for watersports and sailing. I did not find a current general adult open day or adult taster-session page on the official site.
The club has an active junior programme. Junior nights are for children of SYC Family Members aged 8 to 18, run mainly on Friday evenings from April to mid-July, and cater for beginner to competent sailors. The club is an RYA Training Centre and accredited OnBoard Club, and juniors can initially use club boats.

Junior session pricing was found: the official juniors page says the cost is GBP 47 per child per season, contributing to maintenance and fuel for club dinghies, safety boats and equipment. The join page links to subscription prices, but I did not extract exact adult/family membership, berth, boat-hire, or RYA course prices from current official visible text.
The club says it has a small fleet of sailing dinghies and a catamaran available for hire by club members. Junior pages also say the club owns Optimists, RS Teras, Toppers and RS Fevas that juniors may initially use.
