Beginner
South Cerney Sailing Club explicitly welcomes beginners and says members can start through RYA courses, informal support from members, Super Saturdays, and club boats including free-to-hire 420s and Lasers. It is member-focused, so a complete beginner should expect to join or book a course rather than just turn up to sail independently.
Training
The club says it is an RYA Accredited Training Centre and lists 2026 dinghy courses including RYA Adult Level 1, Adult Level 2, Youth Stages 1-4, plus powerboat and safety boat courses. Adult courses are 2 days; the club says Stage 1 is the beginner youth level and that new sailors can often achieve Stages 1 and 2 over one weekend. Taster

2026 membership prices are published: Family GBP 284, Senior Family GBP 227, Cadet Parents Associate GBP 243, Individual GBP 243, Senior Individual GBP 195, Young Adult GBP 87, Student GBP 87, Associate Member GBP 87, and a one-off joining fee of GBP 60. Dinghy course fees are also published: members GBP 145 for RYA Adult Level 1, 2 or 3; members GBP 130 for RYA Youth Stage courses; non-members GBP 165 for adult courses and GBP 155 for youth courses. Boat-hire pricing is partly published: club Lasers and 420s are free; RS200 hire is GBP 7 per evening for juniors, GBP 12.50 per half day for juniors, and GBP 25 per half day for adults.

Boat hire
