Prestwick presents itself as beginner-friendly: it says the best way to start sailing is to join one of its training courses, course fees include training and all equipment, and new sailors do not need to buy a boat. The club also describes sheltered waters off the promenade and launching from a gentle sandy beach.

Training

The club is an accredited RYA Training Centre and says its courses follow Royal Yachting Association schemes. Training is offered to members and prospective members, can be booked online, and enquiries can go to training@prestwicksailingclub.co.uk or 01292 871661.
