Beginner
Medway Yacht Club supports beginners through formal RYA training and beginner-friendly club routes. The official Training page says MYC is a fully accredited RYA Training Centre with beginner courses through to expert coaching in dinghies, keelboats and power boats, welcomes non-members as guests, and runs weekly adult and youth training in season. The Sail Training page lists RYA Keelboat Level 1 for complete beginners, RYA Adult Sailing Courses that introduce the sport, and member Time on the Water sessions for confidence-building.
Training
Medway Yacht Club is a fully accredited RYA Training Centre offering beginner-to-advanced training in dinghies, keelboats and power boats. Current official pages list RYA Keelboat Levels 1-3, RYA Adult Sailing Levels 1-3, RYA Youth Sailing Stages 1-4, weekly adult and youth training, member Time on the Water sessions, personal training by availability, powerboat and shore courses, and downloadable RYA course information sheets.
No current official evidence was found for a general public taster session, trial sail booking route, or future-dated open day for beginners. The Sail Training page refers generally to open days and member Time on the Water sessions, and the Sailability page says people can come and try a sail through Medway Sailability, but this was not treated as general beginner taster availability.
Junior and family suitability is clearly supported. The Sail Training page describes a thriving junior section, RYA Youth Sailing courses for ages 8 and older, Youth Sunday sessions for ages 8-16, qualified sailing coaches, safety briefing, equipment orientation, and RYA OnBoard progression from beginner to independent sailor. The Training page also says the club runs weekly training for adults and youth during the season.
Access
Accessible sailing support is available through Medway Sailability hosted at Medway Yacht Club. The official Sailability page says disabilities of all shapes, sizes and ages are welcome, support workers are welcome, weekend sailing is usual with Friday sails possible by arrangement, Able Spirit cannot accommodate wheelchairs but the team can assist people who are able to get onboard, and current sailors include people with very limited mobility, blind and deaf members, and people with balance problems. The facilities page also states the changing rooms include disabled facilities.

Current official pages publish training, Sailability and some hire/session prices, but no current membership subscription price was found. RYA Adult Sailing Courses are listed at GBP 190 for club members and GBP 220 for non-members; RYA Youth Sailing Courses are listed at GBP 200 for club members and GBP 230 for non-members; member Time on the Water dinghy hire is GBP 10 per boat; personal sailing training is GBP 35 per hour. Medway Sailability lists sailing at GBP 20 per session and group subs at GBP 100 annually, payable to the MYC Sailability Group.
Club boat hire is available to suitably qualified members, not general public hire. The official Boat Hire page lists member-only hire of one Sonata, one Squib, one Wayfarer, Lasers with standard rig, and Zest hire, with booking via the club office. The Sail Training page also says members attending Time on the Water sessions can hire a dinghy for GBP 10 per boat.
