Beginner
London Corinthian Sailing Club is suitable for beginners, with important safety limits for dinghy sailing on the tidal Thames. The official joining page says there are no set membership criteria beyond an interest in sailing and invites prospective members to first-Tuesday new member evenings. The dinghies page says LCSC offers dinghy opportunities from complete beginners upwards, Fun Sailing and Rookie Races are aimed at newcomers who have not sailed before, and RYA Levels 1 and 2 are ideal for people who have never sailed before. The dinghy FAQ says non-members can become temporary members for two outings, crew do not need qualifications, and new sailors are recommended to attend Riverbanking events with an experienced helm.
Training
LCSC is an RYA Recognised Training Centre. The training overview says members can access yacht theory and practical courses, RYA Level 1 and 2 dinghy training, powerboat and safety boat courses, plus crew skills development and skipper development. The dinghy course overview says non-members are welcome on RYA Level 1 and 2 dinghy courses and lists private coaching, skills modules, and RYA Powerboat Level 1 and 2.
Taster
Current official pages support try-sailing routes, but no single dated open-day event was treated as current evidence. The membership benefits page says prospective members can leave contact details for talks, upcoming courses, open days or opportunities to try sailing with the club. The dinghy FAQ says non-members can become temporary members for £5 and take part in two outings before joining, with relevant event fees paid on the day. The booking policy also lists open days among dinghy event types and says any additional event-specific safety plan is made clear when booking.

Suitability

Juniors, families, and accessibility

Juniors
Family and junior participation is evidenced, with restrictions. The membership fees page lists Family membership and says a partner or spouse and children under 18 may be included, with U18 participation agreed case by case by the Management Committee and requiring parent supervision. The dinghies page lists Thames Turtles for ages 2-9 and Thames 10s for ages 10-15. The dinghy FAQ says children's water activities are occasional, usually 3 or 4 times a year in warmer months, and explains Thames Turtles, Thames Tens, and supervised 16-17 participation. It also says the tidal river limits younger children's opportunities and recommends other local clubs for more regular junior sailing and training.
Access
Venue access is evidenced, but adaptive sailing or on-water disability provision was not found. The official Linden House FAQ says there is ground-floor step-free venue access and one wheelchair-accessible toilet, with rear access arranged through the Events Team. LCSC's dinghy FAQ says dinghy sailors need to swim 100 metres unassisted, be able to right a capsized dinghy unassisted, and have a general level of fitness. No current source was found for adapted boats, hoists, sailability-style sessions, or wheelchair-accessible on-water sailing.

Prices

Current official membership fees list a £50 joining fee and annual fees of £200 Full, £320 Family, £95 Country, £70 Overseas, £90 age 24-26, £45 Student/23 & Under with no joining fee, £140 Associate non-sailing, and £100 Joint Sons of the Thames with no joining fee. The page says an average 5% increase will apply to annual membership fees from 1 July 2026 while the £50 joining fee remains unchanged. The dinghy FAQ adds current participation costs: £5 temporary membership for two outings, £15 per person to hire a boat, free buoyancy aid use, and £7 per session to hire a club wetsuit.

Membership

The club says there are no set membership criteria beyond an interest in sailing. New member evenings are held on the first Tuesday of the month, followed by online application and committee election.

Boat hire
Club dinghy hire is available only within organised club events, not as standalone public self-hire. The dinghy FAQ says boat hire costs £15 per person, lists club boats available for hire including Visions, Fusions, Fusion IIs, Enterprises and Lasers, and says boats can only be sailed during organised events with safety boat cover and pre-booking. It also says LCSC provides a free buoyancy aid and club wetsuits can be hired for £7 per session.
