Beginner
Island Barn Reservoir Sailing Club explicitly welcomes beginners and says TrySail is an informal sailing course for people wanting to learn, following the RYA Level 1 and Level 2 syllabus. The Junior Sailing School also says courses cover complete beginners in Oppies or Toppers.
Training
The club says it is an RYA Recognised Training Centre offering courses for all ages and experience levels, including Adult TrySail for RYA Level 1 and Level 2, Better Sailing Level 3, RYA Start Racing, Junior Sailing School RYA Stages 1 to 4, powerboat courses, and professional coaching through Keep Sailing.
Taster
Current official evidence supports TrySail as the adult introductory route: the 2026 course starts with Saturday 9 May 2026 and then Tuesday evenings from 19 May to 21 July 2026, for adults aged 18+ who want to have a go and learn to sail without full Club membership. A separate open day page found during research was dated 7 May 2022, so it is not treated as current availability.
