Beginner
Tamesis Club presents itself as an RYA Recognised Training Centre with adult and youth dinghy sailing routes for beginners. Adult RYA Level 1 is described as a relaxed introduction for beginners, youth courses are open to beginners and improvers, and the joining page says no previous sailing experience is needed for the summer Social Sailing visitor opportunity.
Training
The club states it is an RYA Recognised Training Centre and lists RYA adult Level 1 and Level 2 dinghy courses plus youth Stages 1 to 4 and advanced modules. The 2026 pages include course schedules, availability, timings, and booking instructions via the contact form.
Taster
The joining page says visitors can come when the club is open and that, once a month on a Sunday afternoon in summer, the Social Sailing group can offer a chance to get on the water in a club boat to see if river sailing is for them. The contact form includes options for trying sailing with an experienced helm and visiting to find out more; the FAQ also says the club can arrange a sail if contacted in advance.

Suitability

Juniors, families, and accessibility

Juniors
The youth courses page offers RYA youth courses for ages 8-15, and the FAQ says children can join through family membership or individual Cadet/Junior membership between ages 8 and 17. The homepage calendar also shows recurring Junior Sailing described as a fun, family-friendly Saturday afternoon programme.
Access
The FAQ says the clubhouse has wheelchair ramp access, disabled toilet facilities for men and women, and a club wheelchair stored in the clubhouse for members and visitors. No further detail was found about on-water adaptive sailing or broader access needs.

Membership

Official site advertises membership, racing, junior sailing and learner/improver routes on the Thames at Teddington.

Boat hire
The site does not describe public pay-per-session boat hire, but it does state that members who complete Level 2 can use over 20 club dinghies for free. The FAQ says sailors do not have to own a dinghy because the club has club-owned boats available to sail, including ILCA/Lasers, 2000s, Wayfarers, Enterprises, Toppers, Fevas, and Optimists.
