The current official homepage says Huddersfield Sailing Club is a friendly family-orientated club and an ideal venue for people of all ages and abilities, including families and children, to learn to sail. It welcomes new members taking up sailing for the first time, provides informal coaching to club members, and says anyone interested in sailing is welcome at the club on any weekend afternoon. The FAQ says individuals and families often join as complete novices and receive enough initial coaching to start sailing on their own in suitable conditions.
Training
The current official site supports informal club coaching rather than confirmed RYA course delivery. The homepage says the club provides informal coaching to club members at all levels of proficiency, and the sailing page says coaching generally takes place on Saturday afternoons on an informal basis, with training days arranged for junior members during the summer holidays. I found no current official public evidence of RYA-certified courses at this club.

The current official homepage invites people who want to try sailing to contact the club to arrange a trial sail. The 2026 membership page lists family, junior and child membership categories and says juniors must be supported by an adult member. The FAQ says children can learn to sail if a parent joins as a non-sailing member and is always present when the child sails.

The current official 2026 membership page lists annual subscriptions: Full Member GBP 130; Family Membership, children under 18, GBP 160; Partner of Full Member GBP 20; Junior Member under 17 GBP 30; Child Member 11 and under as of 1 January GBP 13; Student Member age 17-24 GBP 37; Non-Sailing Member GBP 26; Dinghy park fee GBP 32; Temporary Member, one season only, two months maximum, one boat only, GBP 60; Radio-controlled model yacht member GBP 40. The club boats page lists member boat hire rates of GBP 5 per session for Topper/Pico, GBP 8 per session for Hartley 12.2/Hartley 12, and GBP 3 per session for Optimist.
