Beginner
Himley Hall Sailing Club describes itself as a small family-orientated club, an RYA OnBoard club with a special emphasis on young sailors, and a registered RYA Training Centre. Its 2026 adult Level 1 and 2 course says it introduces beginners to dinghy sailing, basic terminology, safety and equipment, with practical skills including rigging, launching, steering, stopping, tacking, gybing and capsize awareness. The RYA listing also shows beginner dinghy and youth dinghy courses.
Training
The club says it is an RYA recognised sail training centre offering dinghy sailing courses to adult Level 3 and junior Stage 3, plus powerboat and safety boat courses. Its current training page lists a September 2026 adult Level 1 and 2 course costing GBP 215 per person and a July 2026 junior Level 1 course costing GBP 75 per person, with an online training enquiry form. The RYA listing confirms dinghy, youth dinghy, powerboat and safety boat course recognition.
Taster
The club currently advertises April to September Fun on the Water sessions for school-aged children and groups, giving them experience of water-based activities and a first taste of sailing, with an enquiry form for availability. The separate Sailing Taster Days page describes public taster sessions and says kit is provided and sessions are free with a suggested GBP 5 donation, but its listed Saturday 18 April and Sunday 19 April dates are before this 12 June 2026 check and have not been treated as current upcoming availability.

Suitability

Juniors, families, and accessibility

Juniors
The club calls itself family orientated and says it has a special emphasis on young sailors through RYA OnBoard status. It offers junior Stage 1 training in July 2026, says junior courses are normally held over three consecutive days in the school summer holidays, runs April to September Fun on the Water sessions for school-aged groups, and publishes junior membership at GBP 60 for 2026/27.
Access· Unclear
I did not find current official accessibility information such as accessible sailing provision, step-free access, accessible toilets, hoist use, adapted boats, or visitor access guidance. The official site mentions a modern toilet and shower block, but does not state accessibility features.

Membership

Boat hire
Boat hire is available to members who are judged competent to sail. The club fleet listed on the boat-hire page includes Toppers, Bytes, Wanderers, Wayfarers, Laser Pico, RS Feva, Hartley 12 and a Gull, but the page says club Wayfarers are not available for hire and can only be used for training. Hire usually costs GBP 3 per half-day for single-handers and GBP 5 for Wanderers, must be booked in advance with the boat-hire coordinator, and juniors need a responsible adult present on or beside the lake.
