Beginner
Haversham Sailing Club says novice sailors receive the same welcome as experienced sailors, and prospective members are invited to meet members on Sundays. The club is an RYA Recognised Training Centre and says it usually runs RYA Level 1 Start Sailing for total beginners. It also runs improver sessions for newly qualified sailors and social sailing days for less confident or less competent sailors, with safety boat cover and experienced members available.
Training
The club says it is an RYA Recognised Training Centre with Senior Instructors, Instructors and Assistant Instructors. For 2026 it lists RYA Level 1 Start Sailing and RYA Level 2 Basic Skills courses for members aged over 16, with Level 1 costing GBP 110 and Level 2 costing GBP 90. The listed 2026 Level 1 courses include dates in May, June/July and July/August, and the Level 2 course is listed for 22 and 29 August 2026. Junior training is covered through Buccaneers and the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme.
Taster· Unclear
A current official March 2026 blog post listed an Open Day on Saturday 2 May 2026 with an opportunity to try sailing, but that date has already passed as of this check on 12 June 2026. No future open day, taster session, or try-sailing date was found on the checked official pages. Prospective members can visit on Sundays and the club runs member social sailing and improver sessions, but these do not confirm current public taster availability.

Suitability

Juniors, families, and accessibility

Juniors
The club describes sailing as an all-year-round family sport and offers family membership for up to two adults plus children or grandchildren under 18, or under 24 in full-time education. Junior sailing is open to children of members under 18, with Buccaneers for beginners and novices, RYA Youth Sailing Scheme activity, youth racing, and a summer Junior Sailing Week. The Buccaneers page says activity and use of dinghies, helmets and buoyancy aids are free, with children accompanied on site by a parent or guardian who is a club member.
Access
The official facilities page says the clubhouse has ramp access and facilities for disabled people. The site also links to MK Sailability from its sailing navigation, but checked official Haversham pages do not provide current details of adapted sailing sessions, hoists, accessible boats, or access-needs booking arrangements at Haversham itself.

The 2026-2027 membership page lists new member and post-1 April 2026 fees: Individual sailing GBP 192, Family Sailing GBP 240, Junior under 18 GBP 28, Student age 18 to 24 GBP 102, Social GBP 47, 1st Berth GBP 80, Additional Berth GBP 40 and Mini Berth GBP 24. It also lists discounted early-renewal and winter rates, including winter rates from 1 October 2026. Training prices are listed separately as GBP 110 for RYA Level 1 and GBP 90 for RYA Level 2.

Membership

Official and council sources describe a member-run family club that owns Haversham Lake, the clubhouse and surrounding land, with 365-day access, berths, youth/Buccaneers activity, RYA affiliation and RYA recognised training.

Boat hire· Unclear
The facilities page says most members have their own boats and the club has a good range of club dinghies, but it does not state current public dinghy hire terms or a sailing boat hire price. The same page says the club has kayaks for hire at a small cost for members, which supports member kayak hire but not sailing boat hire for the Find Watersports sailing profile.
