The club describes itself as an RYA Teaching Establishment that can take novices through basic learn-to-sail courses from age 7 upwards, with coaching support for adults, teenagers, and juniors. Adult RYA Level 1 and 2 courses are currently offered for ages 16+.
Training
Adult RYA Level 1 and 2 dinghy courses can be booked through the site, with further RYA levels available on request. Junior/youth RYA training follows the RYA OnBoard scheme from Stage 1 to Stage 4.
The official open-day page says the club runs an annual open day and describes non-member sailing, windsurfing, and paddle boarding experiences, but the page still names Saturday 1 June 2024 and does not provide a current 2026 sailing taster/open-day date. Visitors can arrange a visit with the club manager, but that is not the same as confirmed current sailing taster availability.
Junior/youth training is offered for students from 8 to 18 through RYA OnBoard stages, with equipment provided and a parent or guardian required on site for Stage 1 and Stage 2 students. Family membership is also listed for up to two adults and children under 18 in the same household.

Adult dinghy sailing courses are £250 per person or £200 for club members. Club sailing dinghy use is £10 per day for adults and free for under-18s. Visitor paddle board/kayak day tickets are listed as Adult £35, Child £25, Family £95.
Official site describes a volunteer-run RYA training centre with sailing, racing, windsurfing, paddling and junior training on Derwent Reservoir. Non-members can use day tickets for some water activities when safety cover is operating.
Club sailing dinghies are available to members with sufficient experience, subject to club rules and restrictions, with a daily charge of £10 for adults and free use for under-18s. Boat availability may be restricted during training/coaching, and the leisure sailing page says non-member loan craft are not currently available.
