For sailing specifically, the racing section says crews and boats of all experience levels are welcome, existing boats often have crew spaces, and someone entirely new can get in touch to be connected with skippers. It also says friendly guidance is available and that experienced crew can usually help if someone is new to racing.

The official site links to the Royal Yachting Association and says the club is affiliated to the RYA on the membership application form, but I found no current official page confirming sailing training, RYA sailing courses, or beginner sailing courses at SYSAC. The site does describe BSAC diver training, but that is diving rather than sailing.
