Beginner
Horning Sailing Club says it welcomes new members, particularly young ones and families, and runs member courses in dinghy and keelboat sailing, powerboating and safety boat handling as an RYA Recognised Training Centre. The training history page says adult training was introduced because many young people came from non-sailing families and the whole family wanted to learn, and says the centre has taught thousands of children and adults to sail.
Training
The official site says activities and training run on Thursday evenings from mid-May to mid-September and that the club is an RYA Recognised Training Centre, part of OnBoard and Sailability, running courses for members in dinghy and keelboat sailing, powerboating and safety boat handling. The RYA listing currently shows beginner and progression courses including Dinghy Level 1 and 2, Youth Stage 1 to 4, Keelboat Level 1 and 2, Powerboat Level 1 and 2, Safety Boat, and other intermediate courses.
Taster
The official training history says Horning has run taster sessions for local schools and youth groups through OnBoard, taster sails at the Horning Boat Show, and alternate-year RYA Discover Sailing days for the public. A 2026 secondary sailing news item reported a Try Sailing Day at the Horning Boat Show on 2 May 2026 with tasters for all and no sailing experience required; that date has passed, so this is evidence of recent taster activity, not current availability.

Suitability

Juniors, families, and accessibility

Juniors
The official Join Us page says the club particularly welcomes young people and families. Training history says the training section began for juniors, later added adult training because whole families wanted to learn, and describes a Junior Regatta with 40 to 60 young sailors that is suitable for all abilities. The fleets page also says many younger sailors race in the dinghy fleets after coming into the club through training courses.
Access
The official Join Us and RYA Training pages say the club is part of the Sailability programme. The current RYA listing identifies Horning Sailing Club as a Sailability Centre and says it offers sailing for people with disabilities. Detailed access arrangements, adaptive equipment and step-free facility information were not found on the checked official pages.

The official training history says the club has a fleet of 40-plus club boats used for training, including Toppers, training Optimists, RS Teras, RS Fevas, Enterprises, Splashes, Yeoman keelboats and a Rebel; it also says Enterprises have more recently been used for adult dinghy training.
