Beginner
The club describes itself as open to everyone, from first-time sailors to lifelong racers, and says no experience is needed because it will help people get started safely and confidently. It also runs a crew register where non-members can register for possible crewing opportunities, although the club says success is not guaranteed.
Training
HSC is an RYA Recognised Training Centre offering on-the-water and shore-based RYA courses, usually using its own RYA-qualified instructors. Courses are aimed at HSC members, with temporary membership usually an option for short courses. Current 2026 course information lists junior training, Junior Summer Week, RYA First Aid, RYA Race Coach Level 2, and RYA Powerboat Level 2 with dates to be confirmed for Powerboat Level 2.
Taster· Unclear
No current official evidence found for public sailing taster sessions, open days, or trial sails. The official site has a crew register for possible opportunities to go afloat, current training pages, and open-event hosting/regatta information, but those do not clearly establish a current public taster or open-day offer.
