Guildford Coastal Cruising Club welcomes new members and says prospective members may already own or charter a boat, be looking to buy a first boat, hold RYA Day Skipper or Competent Crew, or simply want to extend general sailing and nautical knowledge. Its crewing page says stowaway crew are newer members without their own boats, that skippers should not generally expect a particular level of sailing experience or knowledge from a stowaway, and that the stowaway trophy encourages people into sailing and helps members without boats build sailing experience.

Training

The club supports learning through practical workshops, winter talks, crewing experience, ICC at nominal expense, and RYA courses where there is sufficient demand. The crewing page also says crew who have completed or are working toward RYA theory and practical courses are valuable, but this is not presented as a full-time training centre offer.
