Grafham Water Sailability welcomes new members and says no previous sailing experience is needed. New sailors start with an experienced sailing buddy alongside them, with solo sailing only after they feel confident, have learned the basics, and have been assessed as ready.

Training

Current evidence supports informal on-water instruction rather than a published RYA course programme: the site says beginners sail with an experienced and knowledgeable buddy who teaches them how to sail. A separate winter-training and race-coaching reference is tied to older 2024 content and was not treated as current course availability.
