Fowey Gallants Sailing Club is suitable for beginners based on current official pages. Its RYA Training Centre says it welcomes people completely new to sailing, offers Discover Sailing, adult RYA Level 1 Start Sailing, junior Stage 1 Learn to Sail, and uses sheltered waters on the Fowey estuary for learning. The Sailing page also says people without a boat can contact the club and that RYA courses run through the season.
Training

Juniors
The club has a junior section and current junior training. Junior dinghy training is for children aged 7 and up, the Onboard programme is for local children aged 7+, and family membership covers two adults and children up to age 18. The About page says provision for children sailing remains high on the agenda and describes a thriving junior section.

The RYA Training Centre page says the club has adopted the spirit of the RYA Equality Policy and aims to make training and qualifications accessible to all, including people with disabilities or special requirements. It also warns that site constraints may sometimes limit what is possible and asks people with specific requirements to email the club. Current 2026 membership prices are published: Family GBP 162, Couple GBP 146, Single adult GBP 101, Young Member age 18-25 GBP 34, Junior under 18 GBP 20, and Fowey Gig Club associate member GBP 26. Overseas membership is half the applicable standard rate. A one-off joining fee of GBP 25 applies to first-year subscriptions except Junior, Young Person, and Associate. Training prices found include adult RYA sailing GBP 195 members or GBP 250 non-members, junior RYA sailing GBP 195 members or GBP 250 non-members, Junior Onboard GBP 10 per session, Discover Sailing GBP 120 members or GBP 150 non-members for up to four people, adult improver sessions GBP 20 for members, and private tuition prices as listed on the club page.
