Broadwater says it is not a teaching establishment, so adult beginners should contact the club before assuming formal instruction is available. However, the club describes itself as a club for everyone who enjoys sailing, from youngsters learning the basics in Optimists and Toppers to experienced sailors, and the junior information page says Fun Days suit children aged 6-16 whether they have never sailed before or are already competent.
Training
Formal adult learn-to-sail is not confirmed because the about page says Broadwater is not a teaching establishment. Junior sailing can include training for the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme as part of Saturday sessions, with assessments arranged towards the end of the junior season. Powerboat Level 1/2 and Safety Boat courses are signposted as run at/by Maidenhead SC, an RYA Training Centre.
Broadwater Sailing Club is an RYA-affiliated inland dinghy sailing club at Broadwater Lake in Harefield, with racing, junior sailing, club boats, family membership and occasional coastal cruising.
The checked official pages did not show a current public taster session, open day, or adult try-sailing date. Junior Fun Days are mentioned for the start of the school summer holidays, but no current dated booking route was confirmed in the checked pages.
Broadwater runs a Junior Sailing Programme for children aged 5-16 from March to September, with Saturday afternoon sessions, Fun Week, Junior Helm race, Junior Regatta and a Chichester cruise. Junior sessions start in May and continue through July, break in August, then restart in September; new junior sailors and grandchildren of family members are welcome subject to water confidence.
Access
The Equality Policy says Broadwater aims to make dinghy sailing open to anyone who wishes to take part and treats present and potential participants fairly irrespective of disability and other protected characteristics. It says requests for reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act 2010 by a disabled person or advocate will be considered by the committee, while noting that a level of physical coordination and fitness is required for dinghy sailing.

The Join page lists 2025/26 fees: Full GBP 160, Senior Citizens GBP 135, Shoreline GBP 55, Young Person GBP 50, Berth Fee GBP 60, Crew GBP 40, Associate GBP 25 and Junior Sailing Programme GBP 35 per child per annum. It also says there are no joining fees and annual membership runs 1 April to 31 March.
Official pages describe Broadwater as a family friendly RYA-affiliated inland sailing club with membership, dinghy racing, club boats, junior programme and occasional coastal cruising.
The about page says club boats are available for occasional use by members, including Optimists, Toppers, RS Feva XLs, Lasers, a Laser 2000 and a Wanderer. The 2026 Double Hander Regatta notice on the homepage also says club dinghies are available for use, including RS Fevas, Wanderer, RS Vision and Laser 2000.
